Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As time passes, pavements age and distresses are formed, thus making the costly rehabilitations inevitable Applying the appropriate preventive maintenance measures at the right time allow preservation and extension of their lives at substantially reduced costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Slurry seal and micro surfacing are the two most common preventive maintenance methods used around the world. In these methods, a mixture of fine aggregates, special emulsion bitumen, filler and appropriate additives is made using specific machinery and is placed as a cold layer on the existing surface of the asphalt pavement. Considering the role of these methods in pavement preservation the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization in Iran has decided to carry out at least one slurry seal and\/or micro surfacing project in each of the provinces in the current fiscal year to promote their usage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this webinar, slurry seal and micro surfacing methods will be introduced. The material specifications, application methods and also the mixing and quality control tests will be discussed. Biography<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hamidreza Sahebzamani holds a PhD in Road and Transportation Engineering from University of Tehran. He started his undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering at College of Engineering, University of Tehran in 2006. Recognized as an exceptional talent during his graduate studies, he was given the honor to continue his studies for obtaining a PhD degree without the entrance exam. He conducted part of his thesis experimental tests at Eiffage lab located in Lyon, France during his PhD sabbatical. He has published more than 25 papers in national and international conferences and journals. Dr. Sahebzamani joined Kandovan Pars Company in 2012 and currently is the head of the road construction department and quality control division. He is in charge of the R & D department as well. His research interests include viscoelastic modeling of asphalt mixtures and innovative methods of surface treatment, i.e. very thin-layer and ultra-thin layer polymer-modified asphalt. Carrying out the first very thin-layer asphalt project in Iran with the cooperation of Eiffage company, is one of his achievements in this department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is a member of different committees and has contributed to the revision of the Road General Technical Specification (No.101), preparation of the Guideline for Assessment of Quality & Technical Specifications of Performed Operations (No. 773), preparation of the National standards for bitumen and asphalt, revision of the price analysis handbook and preparation of the Iran Road code (No.800). He is also an active member of the technical committee of Road Construction companies\u2019 association and has been a member of the scientific committee of the National Bitumen and Asphalt congress for the past three years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
